General Information

At what age can I start driver's ed?

At age 15 and 9 months you can begin the classroom portion of a MA driver's education program.  At age 16 you can get your learner's permit and begin the driving and observation portion of your training.

Where and when is the parent class?

You can sign up for any one of the parent classes once your child is enrolled in our program.  The classes are held at our location in North Plymouth.  The parent class must be attended prior to the child scheduling driving lessons. It is important for us to work together to mentor your child to become a responsible driver, and we would like to familiarize you with Safety 1st Driving Academy program.

How long is the Parent Orientation Certificate valid?

The Parent Orientation Certificate is valid for 5 years from the date of the class.  If you have completed the class within the 5 year time frame, you will simply need to produce a copy of the certificate for our records.

What happens if I miss a classroom training session?

You will need to make up whatever module(s) that were covered during the class time that you missed.  Example, if you missed Module 4, you will need to make up Module 4.  Check our website for the next available classroom session and call our office for assistance.

What is your cancellation policy for driving lessons?

All appointments must be cancelled no less than 24 hours in advance.  Any cancellation made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment will result in a $50 cancellation fee.

What is the refund policy?

Please contact the main office to determine if you qualify for a refund.

When can my child start behind the wheel training (BTW)?

Your child can start BTW training as soon as she/he has a learners permit and a parent class has been completed.

How do I schedule my driving lesson?

You can schedule Behind The Wheel (BTW) lessons online via our website.

When can I get my license?

If you are under 18 years of age, you must have been issued a Driver's Education Completion Certificate, held a MA Driver's Permit for 6 months, and be at least 16 1/2 years old.

How do I schedule my license test?

If you are going to use Safety 1st Driving Academy road test services, you need to advise us and submit payment of $175 (Safety 1st students)(non-refundable) to the office.  For non-students the rate is $350. Our fee does not include the RMV fees ($85) which you pay separately to the RMV regardless if you use our road test service or not.  If you choose to use your own vehicle, you will schedule your own license exam with the RMV and use your own sponsor.  Refer to the RMV's webiste www.mass.gov/rmv or Call (857)368-8010, option #2 when promted, to schedule your road test and pay the RMV fees.

Do you offer personal or refresher driving lessons?

Yes, we do offer personal driving and refresher driving lessons.  Many students ask for a refresher lesson prior to taking their license test.  Rate is $75 per hour for students who have attended our course and $150 per hour for non-students.  Call our office or email us for further details.
